Khandallah House Renovation
In September 2023, a residential client contracted Built Construction Group to add a one-bedroom sleepout to an existing property with a new roof forming a large deck for the original house – at 37 Benares Street, Khandallah, Wellington.
The property has a wonderful view of Wellington Harbour so this project was thoroughly enjoyable to build.
One of the challenges faced was the property’s power supply, as it was originally coming in where the deck was planned to go. We were able to resolve the issue, working with Wellington Electricity and Wellington City Council to get it shifted to another power line.
The project took about 10 months and was completed in July 2024. We had three builders working on the job and a range of subcontractors, including:
Following completion of the project, we ended up extending the deck all the way around the back of the property with a step down. The result looks incredible and provides substantial views of Wellington Harbour.
Built Construction Group worked exceptionally well with the client and was able to coordinate a number of changes throughout the project, including changing the floor coverings in the living area, increasing the deck coverage, and coordinating the installation of the kitchen joinery with the client’s supplier. We found the client great to deal with.
