Do you have a construction project that we can help you with?

Barkers Cuba St Shop Fitout

In 2015, Barkers & Co recruited Built Construction Group to fit out an empty tenancy with Barkers’ ‘The Studio’ retail store on Cuba Street in Wellington.

Barkers has been a popular men’s fashion store since 1972 – originally called Raymond’s after Barkers’ founder, Raymond Barker. They now have 26 stores nationwide and have worked with the All Blacks, Swanndri, Volvo, and even Blunt who make those Wellington wind-tolerating brollies.

The project took four weeks to achieve completion, with our team working some long hours. Shop fit-outs always have tight timeframes as tenants need to commence trading as soon as possible to cover lease payments.

We had six builders working on the fit-out, and we also engaged the following subcontractors:

  • Suspended ceiling contractor – feature ceilings
  • Tilers and concrete specialists – entrance tiles and polished concrete
  • Electricians – Feature lighting & general power
  • Plumbers – new bathroom & kitchen amenities
  • Painters and plasterers – Decorative finishes
  • Joiners – counter & cabinetry
  • Glaziers – installation of mirrors.

The project was completed on time with a quality result. The store looks fantastic in the heart of Cuba Street, decked out with Fender guitars, Bruce Jarvis’ Rock Legends photography and other bits of New Zealand’s musical heritage.

We enjoyed working with Barkers and continue our relationship. The brand is awesome – we even wear their clothing.
